Crisis - What Crisis?
by James Birtwhistle
Another week, another siesmic collapse in world financial markets... this time last year, I'd wager the majority of the UK public had never heard of Fannie May, Freddie Mac or known the difference between one mortgage backed security or another. Even those Manchester United supporters who'd heard of AIG probably had no idea that it was the USA's largest insurance group with financial tenticles which spread all over the world.

But now we all do. And by the time this year is out I'm betting that we'll be able to recite even more 'once succesful' financial powerhouses.

Network Freelance - a UK first!
by Rick Bisset
Those who've been watching for Network Freelance in the press may well have seen our latest promotional foray. Last week we undertook our biggest ever press release, highlighting the unique way we're funded. No fee's, no subscribtions, just services to help freelancers and employers at no cost. Our growth in community has bowled us over (which is a brilliant problem to have!) and to try and cover some of the development costs we've offered employers the a volunatary contribution service where they can contribute payment, in line with the value they think we've provided. We'll give you an update on how successful this is next month... but so far, so good...

Tell your freelance friends about us!
by Rick Bisset
If you like Network Freelance, then please tell your friends about us. What we lack in marketing budget we need to make up for in goodwill so if you think the service is helpful – share the name. You can get us to send an introductory email to any friends you have by clicking here.

August Newsletter Survey Results
Last month we asked you, "How are you preparing to keep afloat during the credit crunch?". Thanks to everyone who voted. Here are the results:

  • Move in house (28%)
  • Join an agency (23%)
  • None of the above, business as usual (23%)
  • Lower your rates to ensure you win contracts (14%)
  • Increase your rates to get through any quiet patches (12%)

Worryingly for us it seems many are looking to turn to the security of a daily 9-5 grind! Lets just hope the current credit crunch ends up being a cold and not a full-on flu!
